Why You’ll Love It
Designed by Ingalls & Hoffman in 1912 for producer Winthrop Ames, this intimately sized theatre with just 597 seats is the smallest on Broadway! In fact, its original name was Little Theatre until it was renamed the Hayes Theater as a tribute to the actress Helen Hayes and another theatre of the same name. In the 1950s, it was used to record radio and TV, including The Merv Griffin Show, and will sometimes still be used for radio recording when the theatre is vacant. Previous productions include Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Xanadu, Rock of Ages, Kite Runner, and most recently, Job.
