On Friday night they have free jazz concerts (May - October). If you want seating make sure to get there very early, otherwise bring picnic blankets or stand. It's also walkable to the LA tar pits if you want to hit two LA icons in one day.

They have the best farmer's market in the mornings every Wednesday and Sunday that features lots of organic farm products and tons of variety to sample. If you're looking for a more upscale food experience, I would suggest Great White or Bettola for lunch.

If you want to experience a little of France while in LA, Republique offers a gastronomic environment imbued with history and grandeur. The historic space features a casual bakery, café, and bar in the front with a more formal dining area located in the rear, serving a French-inspired menu created daily. You wait in line to order and then are given a number for your table. You must get the French bread and French butter.

This is my favorite restaurant in LA. They have a tasting menu that is not always advertised (if it is not publicly available, you can still ask for it, and they will make it for you). However, if you go for brunch, don't even bother with the menu because the pastries are the star of the show. It's also a 20-minute walk from LACMA, so you can make a full day, starting with brunch and ending with Picasso.
