Hidden inside the South Congress Hotel lies the culinary dynamic duo of OTOKO and Watertrade. Their culinary excellence earned them multiple awards at the Bar & Restaurant Expo in 2024 for Best Restaurant of the Year and Best Cocktail Program, along with being called one of the Top 15 Bars in the US by Food & Wine. OTOKO's 12-person seatings have a lavish reputation, but they are anything but stuffy, giving off a rock and roll air that is only heightened by master chef Yoshi Okai and his staff. Adorned with tattoos, piercings, and matching black denim chef jackets, a meal here is the ultimate blend of masterfully prepared Omakase and Austin attitude.
OTOKO was one of the first omakase restaurants in the city when it opened in 2016, and it serves a 20-course menu of hand-prepared dishes featuring nigiri, sashimi, and other Japanese fare. Watertrade is the moody, boozy sister to OTOKO's fine-dining experience. This intimate cocktail bar features an extensive list of Japanese whiskies, sake, and craft cocktails, along with a limited menu of bar bites and specialty dishes from the OTOKO culinary team.
