Why You’ll Love It
Inside Olamaie's bright white bungalow is a dining experience that gives classic Southern cooking an upscale, inventive reimagining. Since 2014, founder and executive chef Michael Fojtasek has put his heart and soul into Olamaie, earning him a spot as a James Beard Finalist. The restaurant's new Chef du Cuisine, Amanda Turner, is a burgeoning name in the culinary world. She was a contestant on Top Chef, named a James Beard semifinalist for Emerging Chef in 2022, a Rising Star Chef for Star Chefs in 2023, and Tastemaker Chef of the Year for 2023.
The menu from these two powerhouses is nothing short of extraordinary. All thanks to Turner's masterful training in multiple culinary styles combined with her deep cultural understanding of Southern food. Olamaie's dishes are as creative as they are delicious, with coconut milk and lemongrass in their shrimp and grits and jerk spices on the grilled pork chop. Plus a new take on a Baked Alaska called Baked Texas that uses local gala apples and pecans.
