Ramenhood offers the best vegan ramen I've had. While not the best overall, it's still very good. Sitting at the counter is a must—the chefs move with the precision of high-end bartenders. At Pupuseria, you have to try the pupusas, which are Salvadorian thick griddle cakes or flatbreads stuffed with meat, veggies, beans, and more. La Tostaderia's ceviche won't blow your socks off, but considering the price, it's very good.

On weekends, expect a wait for a table, but if you're just after some pastries, hop into the express line. And hey, for the vibe, think beachy linens or athleisure if you want to blend right in!

They've got Impossible burgers for your vegan friends (and if you live in LA, you've got at least one). Take a stroll to Abbot Kinney Street; it's a bit of a trek but totally worth it for the cute shops. Go for the grain bowl with crispy chicken—healthy enough without being overly virtuous.

For a satisfying meal, go for the hot stone bibimbap combo at this spot. It's a generous portion, especially when split between two, and the bibimbap is top-notch. Plus, you get to choose a tofu soup to go with it. Don't miss out on the complimentary Korean starters like kimchi and fish cakes—they're a nice touch. Just be prepared for a wait, as they don't take reservations. Remember to jot down your name and party size on the clipboard outside to secure your spot.

And on Wednesdays, they have a super fun trivia night. Drinks are super reasonable for Santa Monica, making this a go-to place for young professionals.

I always go with my girlfriend and order either pad thai or drunken noodles and then a green curry. So much food, and very affordable. I would stay away from takeout as the portions seem smaller than dining in, and it's the perfect spot to go before or after hitting the movies. The historic Fox Theater is right next door and always has big premieres, so you may get lucky and see Chris Hemsworth as you slurp up dank-ass noodes.

Every In-N-Out is great, but this iconic LA spot lets you watch planes take off while enjoying an insanely good and cheap burger. Visit before your flight or on your way back from the airport for a tarmac experience. Check out their secret menu on Google and make sure to order your fries "animal style" with melted cheese, grilled onions, and their special sauce.

This place is adorable, with a British-themed store featuring all kinds of English goodies. From frozen shepherd's pies to quirky knick-knacks, they've got it all. When my girlfriend and I drop by, we always opt for the large portion of fish 'n chips to share. Trust me, it's plenty for both of us, and the beer-battered ones are the way to go - they're just too good to resist! Plus the owner, a British expat, adds a lovely touch by frequently stopping by our table to offer her recommendations. Don't forget to ask for them when you visit!

I always go for a double (the single doesn't have the right meat-to-bun ratio) and make sure to get their fries made in beef tallow. They also have quite a fun beer list! It's always my go-to spot after hitting the beach (the section across the street is the best area in Santa Monica/Venice - it is much quieter and cleaner).

It's my go-to place if you want delicious sushi (in hand roll form) but want to stay affordable. There are several locations across LA and even NYC, but expect a serious line at all of them (they don't take reservations). For me, I'm a big guy who eats a lot, six rolls are usually enough.

Just like most thrift shops, you may have luck one day and then none the next. I found a mint Patagonia puffer jacket for $33 once so make sure to be patient. I have still yet to fully figure out their organization structure, but there seems to be a method to their madness.

You can go year round, but if you are looking to swim, I would say July through early September is your best bet (depending on rainfall for that year). Otherwise it is just too darn cold (yes - LA can get cold). Also, it's not much of a hike, so if you have waterproof sandals - wear those. The bottom of the rock pools have large rocks sticking out and you may stub your toes a lot. And if you are going to cliff jump, be sure to watch the locals first, as there are many spots with rocks jutting out that you can't see from above the water.

Explore the building's rich history as a former bank by locating the vault, now brimming with antique books. Ascend to the upper floors for a captivating experience: a labyrinthine maze and tunnel crafted entirely from books, perfect for striking photographs. I also recommend going before dark - DTLA is sketchy during the day as it is, so no need to make it worse.

The boardwalk is a blast, but be VERY careful. The amount of tourists that are either under the influence or simply not paying attention is staggering and accidents happen very frequently.

The trail from The Greek Theater to Griffith is my favorite in the park. While a bit steep, it is relatively short and offers stunning views of LA.

While less popular than Griffith Park or areas in Malibu, weekends can still get fairly busy (especially if it's the first weekend after a big storm). Typically on most weekdays and some weekends (time dependent), you can find free street parking on the road right before the park gate (it is right after the final sharp turn up the hill). If that is full you can either pay for the parking lot or find parking in the neighborhood right next to the lot - just make sure to check the parking signs since it is not permitted on weekends.

Always crowded, it is still somehow always worth it. One of the most extensive farmers markets in west LA, they also seem to have the best produce. Also, be sure to arrive hungry because both the pastries and the breakfast burritos are out of this world.
